Match Review LS11 | Penang FC 1-5 Selangor FC | 3 Points for The #RedGiants!

Selangor FC returned from the Bandaraya Stadium in Penang with all three points after a commanding 5-1 victory over Penang FC in their 2025/26 Super League encounter last night.

The 11th match of the campaign proved highly dramatic, with play halted twice due to floodlight issues. A staggering 28 minutes of added time was tacked onto the first half, which Selangor exploited superbly, scoring three goals before the break. Faisal Halim opened the scoring in the 26th minute after a neat pass from Chrigor Moraes, before Picha doubled the lead in the 45+5th minute with his first goal for the club. Chrigor then added the third in the 45+11th minute, finishing off Faisal’s delivery. Penang responded in the 45+19th minute to head into half-time trailing 1-3.

In the second half, Chrigor Moraes remained the standout performer, striking twice more. He capitalised on a defensive error in the 59th minute before completing his second hat-trick for the Red and Yellow in the 75th. The emphatic win keeps Selangor FC in fourth place in the 2025/26 Super League table with 19 points, four clear of the team in fifth.

Head coach Christophe Gamel expressed pride in his players’ spirit and commitment, while acknowledging ongoing areas for improvement.

“The players executed the game plan well. made some changes to the line-up to ensure everyone could contribute and stay focused throughout. Although we aren’t in perfect condition as a squad, the energy and determination they showed were exceptional,” Gamel said.

“This is a good win for us, we scored more goals although I’m slightly disappointed to have conceded. There are also a few immature decisions made, which is expected with several young players involved. Still, I’m proud of the team, they have worked hard and gave everything. We’re not fully consistent yet, and I’ll be looking for solutions in the coming matches,” he added.

Selangor FC will next face Lion City Sailors FC in their final Group G fixture of the 2025/26 AFC ACL TWO at MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya at 8:15pm.

The club also extended its appreciation to all supporters who filled the stands at the Bandaraya Stadium in Penang, thanking them for continuing to stand with the Red and Yellow. Their unwavering support, the club said, is deeply valued.
